A medal at the Pan American Games was important this weekend for the United States, not only for Olympic qualification, but for team morale after a tough finish at the 2014 Alltech World Equestrian Games (France).

With Brazil hot on their heels after three clear show jumping rounds today, the team delivered, taking home the gold on a score of 133.0... Marilyn Little clinched the team win with a clear round on RF Scandalous, and when individual leaders Ruy Fonseca and Tom Bombadill Too dropped a heartbreaking rail at the last, Little, who was sitting second, took home individual gold as well...

Great Meadow hosted the final prep event for Team USA... Phillip Dutton and Fernhill Fugitive, Lauren Kieffer and Meadowbrook’s Scarlett, Marilyn Little and RF Scandalous, and Boyd Martin and Pancho Villa — swept the leaderboard, claiming four of the top five placings in the prep trials and delivering the fastest times in the division. “It was nice to see that in the Pan Am division the four fastest rides were our four team members, so nobody was holding back,” David O’Connor said after cross country. “They went out to give their horses a good prep, and I thought those four horses really jumped well, so I’m excited.”

RF Overdressed, an 8-year-old Hannoverian, finished second to his stablemate RF West Indie at the Carolina International last month and was fourth at the The Fork last week. This weekend, it was the German-bred gelding’s turn to shine, as he led a field of 80 starters in the Ocala CCI1* from start to finish, adding nothing to his initial score of 37.0.

Now owned by Jacqueline Mars, Robin Parksy and Raylyn Farms, RF Overdressed had a successful one-star career in Germany before partnering with Marilyn Little. They competed in their first FEI competition together in February.

Just an hour after a clear round on cross country to win the CIC** with RF Scandalous, ... Marilyn Little continued her winning ways at the Carolina International, taking home first and second in the Southern Pines Equine Associates CIC*. RF West Indie and RF Overdressed had been in first and third throughout the weekend, sitting on their dressage scores of 34.9 and 36.8 after the first two phases of competition. Both jumped double-clear to finish on their initial scores and head home with the first and second place ribbons.

Marilyn Little and RF Scandalous are officially on a hot streak after clinching the win in the CIC2* at Red Hills International Horse Trials with a clear show jumping trip today. Less than a rail separated the top three, leaving Marilyn with no breathing room, but the mare was allergic to wood today, and they took home their third FEI win in a row on a score of 47.9.

The overnight temperatures dipped into the low teens, and by this morning, the water jumps were frozen over... It was still in the mid to low-20s when the competition got underway this morning... RF Scandalous, an Oldenburg mare owned by Raylyn Farms and Phoebe and Michael Manders, put down a stunning test to lead the division of 31 starters after dressage. They also produced one of six double-clear show jumping rounds before adding just 3.2 time penalties on cross country to secure the win.

With just .7 penalties separating Marilyn Little from James Atkinson in the CCI2* at Galway Downs, she had to jump a fast, clear round with RF West Indie to seal the deal. on a day when riders struggled to make the time over Marc Donovan’s show jumping course. “It was a lot harder to ride right after watching James go clear and fast,” she said.. He laid down a beautifully executed, fast, clear round and made it look very easy. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be that easy, and I was right. He added a lot of pressure, and he made it a fun day.”

After a decisive dressage victory for Marilyn and the 6 year old gelding RF Typecast on an impressive score of 32.4, the pair finished the weekend as the winners of the CIC* division. Marilyn and the 7 year old RF West Indie bettered their 3rd place result from two weeks prior at Plantation Field’s CIC** track, this weekend finishing second in the CIC** division after a difficult xc course took its toll on the field.

Marilyn Little produced two outstanding results to finish fifth and sixth at the Rolex, Kentucky CCI 4* at the Kentucky Horse Park from April 24-27, 2014 as the sole rider to have two horses in the top ten of the exclusive CCI4* in North America, which is one of only six events at this level in the world. Following two double clear cross country performances for both horses, RF Smoke on the Water gave an impressive show jumping performance to finish fifth in his debut CCI 4* event, while RF Demeter finished in sixth to complete her third CCI 4* event worldwide.

Following their win at the Carolina International CIC3* two weeks ago in their first competition of the season, the pair cruised home to finish on their dressage score of 49.8 as one of only three to beat the optimum time on cross country.  The winner was decided on the combination finishing closest to the optimum time although both achieved the same score. In the Open Preliminary Division, Marilyn and Raylyn Farms’ 7 year old RF West Indie also finished on her dressage score to bring home the victory.

Raylyn Farms & Team Demeter's outstanding mare RF Demeter secured six top ten International placings this year to secure both the Horse of the Year and the Mare of the Year award for the first time since Jill Walton’s Olympic partner Patrona in 1992. With two horses in both the CIC3* and CIC2*, the condensed schedule made for a very busy day for Marilyn Little, but that didn’t stop her... ‘It is busy,’ said Marilyn. ‘But the heart of eventing is the cross-country phase, so that should be the finale. How exciting to get to come back in reverse order and have the crowds see the sport at its best... It exhibits the horses very well, and I think it provides a format that allows the crowd to get the most out of the event.’
